2011 MONTANA WETLAND STEWARDSHIP AWARD:
RIVER TO LAKE INITIATIVE Wetlands on Louden property

Montana Wetland Council's Wetland Stewardship Award Committee has awarded the cooperative River to Lake Initiative the 2011 Montana Wetland Stewardship Award! The award recognizes the Initiative for outstanding achievement in working with private landowners to protect and restore critical wetlands and riparian habitat along the Flathead River and the North Shore of Flathead Lake.

In the award letter, the Louden Family Farms conservation project was highlighted. Flathead Land Trust worked with the Loudens for several years to complete the projects, finishing in 2010. The council praised the Louden family for its voluntary conservation of 1,088 acres on seven parcels that stretch along 3.07 miles of Flathead River, including Church Slough.
