Event: West Valley Wetlands Sandhill Crane Watching Tour

Oct
07

Join us on Saturday, October 7 from 5-7:30 PM to watch the amazing sandhill cranes at their fall staging area in the West Valley with Denny Olson, bird expert of Flathead Audubon. See the conservation project in progress to protect part of this special place which will also include a new bird viewing area for the public.  The tour is co-sponsored by Flathead Audubon and West Valley Naturalists Association.

The West Valley includes a complex of wetlands in agricultural fields that support some of the highest numbers and diversity of wetland birds in the Flathead Valley.  This includes the only known staging area for sandhill cranes in the Flathead Valley where hundreds of these magnificent birds can be viewed during their annual migration. In fact, up to 400 of these magnificent birds have been seen at one time using this  important staging area during the months of September and October.

Directions: Meet at West Valley School at 2290 Farm to Market Rd.  You will need to RSVP for this event as we have limited room.

Bring: Binoculars.
